Today I’ll be talking about one of the most powerful feature on Photoshop CC- the Content Aware Fill. This feature allows you to remove selected objects from it’s background effortlessly. Why would you need this?
You may have seen a pretty interesting image somewhere and you want to use the background perhaps. You can use Content Aware fill to remove the parts you don’t want. Most times it works like a charm, other times you might have to do a little extra work to get it to look the way you want.
Here I will show you how it works! I really like the green and black background in the feature image above, but there is a photo in the way, lets remove the photo.
You’d need to have Photoshop installed first. I’m using Photoshop CC 2019, this feature may not be present in older versions of Photoshop. Right click on the image you want to work with, select “Open with”, and then “Adobe Photoshop”.
What is important here is that the image has to be the “background” layer (see Step 2) for this to work.
Choose any selection tool and select the part of the image you want to remove or fill.
Press the Delete or backspace key and the Fill tab will pop up. Make sure “Content Aware” is selected, and click OK.
You are done and now have your background! Undo the selection by pressing CTRL D.1
